Summary: Aim of this trial is to evaluate the implementation of a high-resource-intensive antimicrobial stewardship package (Enhanced support) compared with a low-resource-intensive package (Standard support) in Australian general practice, with the aim of optimising appropriate antibiotic use.
GP requirements:
- Support the recruitment of practice GPs to participate in the study.
- Support the activities related to the intervention package within the Practice (after randomisation to either the enhanced or standard support arm) (e.g., displaying the poster in the waiting room).
- Nominate a practice champion to help liaise information and the needs of the practice GPs and the research team
- Complete the EASSI-PC Package Implementation Form with GPs’ preferences on the type of resources and delivery format they need.
Participants/ GPs Receive:
- Quality improvement
- $1000 practice payment in recognition of your time and contribution
- GPs recieve a compimentry subscrition to eTG for duratin of the study
- CPD hours in accordance with the RACGP/ACRRM requirments
- $100 payment to GPs who participate in an optional 30-45 minute interview
