Summary: The ROSELLA study aims to evaluate the most effective method of delivering DNA-based cancer risk assessments in Australian general practice. We will examine whether DNA risk information helps people make decisions about their cancer screening, and other ways we can assist general practices to offer a DNA cancer risk test.

Practice staff/ GP requirements:

• Practice Champion to be the primary contact for the trial and to help facilitate the mail-out
• GPs discuss DNA cancer risk reports with their patients
• Willing to conduct a mail-out to eligible clinic patients (following GP and practice staff review), with assistance from the research team

Participants/ GPs Receive:

• All patient participants receive a personalised cancer risk report that provides them their risk of developing melanoma, bowel, and breast or prostate (depending on sex) cancer and screening recommendations based on this risk
• Clinics will receive reimbursement for use of resources during recruitment (consulting room space, clinic support staff processing patient queries, etc.)
  • $1,500 for practice administrative payment
    • Plus $2 for every patient included in mail-out (expected range of 100-400 patients)
    • Plus $15 for every patient recruited (expected range of 19-76 patients)
  • Expected total reimbursement of between $1985 and $3440 depending on number of patients included in mail-out and recruited
• We will cover out-of-pocket costs for participants who are recruited and attend a follow-up appointment discuss their results and/or arrange follow-up as needed – PSA testing, skin check (performed by any clinic GP), or referral for mammogram or colonoscopy
• CPD points for participating GPs
  • 12 hours for all participating GPs
    • Educational activities: 4 hours
